It's just a covered foam block, so it's going to hard to find anything incredible or outstanding about it. Yes, they are very helpful for those of us who aren't yet flexible as we'd like to be, but it's still a covered foam block. Frankly, I thought it would be a little more dense/sturdy than it is, but it will do the job.

Not sure what the griping is about there only being ONE block. The description was pretty clear on that. You'll definitely want two of them.

The block are pretty firm, but not uncomfortable. They really help with poses. I have a bad back and find these help with relieving some of the tension when I remember to use them.

i don't know if i'm doing something wrong, but my towel would not stay put! i even sprayed water on it before each class, but the towel would ALWAYS move or get scrunched up easily. yes, the towel helps me from slipping all over the place, but it's not as great as what the other reviews are saying. i just got it a little less than 2 weeks ago and have used about 8 times. I've been air-drying it because i'm afraid the heat would damage the little stickies at the bottom. regardless of how much i try to take care of this, it still would not stick to my mat. i'm disappointed because it costs way too expensive to not do its job. i really wish i could return it...

I held off on buying a Yogitoes for a long time. I saw lots of other Yogis and Yoginis using them, but it just seemed really expensive for basically a towel. Well I kept having problems slipping on my mat, so I finally went for it and man, it's been great so far. Slipping problems are gone. I don't even have to wet it down, like so many people do. My body heat and the heat in most yoga classrooms, my own sweat, all these create plenty of friction and I have not had any problem slipping on it.

I also like that it extends the life of my mat. My mat was beginning to tear up down at my feet, and so far it seems like the Yogitoes will really extend the life of my mat.

Occasionally I need to reach down and straighten it out here and there, but nothing major, really not much of a problem.

I got the moss color and like it.

The only reason this is 4 stars and not 5 is I haven't had it long enough to see how durable it is, but so far it looks and seems pretty durable after a few uses.

This is a nice block. I prefer a solid wood block for most poses, as they give the most stability. However, there are some poses, like a forearm stand, where I get a little nervous about using a solid wood block and knocking out some teeth or something! This is a good compromise. A very stable and sturdy block but also soft. Ok, not really soft, but certainly not like the solid wood blocks!

I love these blocks. Another advantage to them over the wood ones is that they're less slick and don't scoot on the floor as easily.

Definitely the best block I've seen on this site!

When I decided to buy a pair of blocks I knew they would be Hugger Mugger. I've tried their foam blocks in the class and they worked great. I definitely wanted something solid and was debating between their cork blocks and foam blocks. I ended up getting the cork blocks because they match my mat better and are eco-friendly. I was a little bit hesitant because I never used cork before and I didn't know if they would hurt my hands or would be too heavy. At the beginning I though they were too hard, but they are not. These are just NICE! I love how these blocks never collapse regardless of how many different asanas I try. I also like how the strenght of the cork material makes me use my muscles better by transmitting my muscle strenght toward other muscles and not buffering it into a soft block. Sturdy, very sturdy but comfortable enough to place and keep it in my back for a while during supine poses. Like others have mentioned, the feel to it is really nice; nice smooth surface and the built is superior quality. They are very well made, surfaces are even and don't look cheap at all. Regarding the weight I don't think they are that heavy. I weighted them & each one is 1.8 lbs. Maybe to carry a pile of them wouldn't be that cool but these are so nice I wouldn't mind taking them to class. These are my first pair of blocks and after using them for a while I don't think I will be back to any other block. They truly a great buy for me. Versatile. These cork blocks work amazing for standing, energizing and restorative poses. They have tremendously helped to open my horizons in my yoga practice. Really love them!

I have tried the foam blocks before, but found the different brands to be inconsistent in the size and density. I've also used wood blocks and had a fear of dropping them on my bare feet during a yoga session. The cork is lighter than a wood block, heavier than a foam block, which provides nice stability. It is also eco-friendly and smells nice and earthy. I definitely reccommend the use of blocks to maximize your yoga practice.

This block is way better than the other rubber foam ones. It is sturdy and does not bend in poses like supported bridge. Because it is so sturdy it can feel a little hard in some supported poses, so I usually place a blanket over it when I am doing a heart opener. It doesn't have a rubbery synthetic smell, instead it has a slight earthy scent, almost like hay. I would recomend this to everyone, it is environmentally sound and will probably last forever!

When I started getting rather largely pregnant, I needed something to improve my grip while doing prenatal yoga. Because I live in Miami, Florida, and it's humid here all year 'round, mats do not work for yoga unless the space is heavily air conditioned. Even towels on mats do not work. The slippage and sliding is constant, and when you're pregnant, that's kinda unacceptable. Somewhere I stumbled across these things and they solved the problem for me. I still use these while practicing on a thick oriental rug.

Drawbacks:

- As other reviewers have mentioned, the way the material is knit the part between the toes can get tight and cut in uncomfortably when doing poses that move weight across the feet, like Triangle or Warrior. I also have slight webbing between my 2nd and 3rd toe, so that exacerbated the problem, but I snipped the very middle of the fabric there to accomodate my toes and that also solved the pressure problem.

- I primarily purchased these b/c DownDog is such an integral part of the various routines I follow(ed), and that's also when I was sliding the most b/c of the weight distribution. It didn't take long, however, for the nubbies on the big toe (my key grip in this position) to start to wear off. Fifteen bucks is a lot to pay just for big-toe nubbies.

Successes:

- The nubbies actually work. They helped me grip whatever surface I was practicing on. And unlike other brands, the nubbies cover the entire underside of the toe, not just the pad, and when my feet are flexed in DownDog I need that entire surface gripping for me.

- They're highly breathable and comfortable (once I snipped between the toes). My feet don't over heat. I forget I have them on.

So, while I wish the nubbies lasted longer, the fact that they do the job they're supposed to while they last will spur me to continue to purchase this brand.

Great idea, but poorly made. Material is thin and very restrictive. They seem to be sized for a very petite foot with long skeleton toes. The toes are tight, way too tight, and I bought both my "correct" size and a pair a size larger. I don't have fat feet, webs, or extra toes ;-), but I do have a wide footprint with short toes. The stiching doesn't "give" at all, there are seams at the toes, and they actually cut off circulation to the toes. Beware if you don't have "perfect" model's feet, or if foot care for a health issue like diabetes is a priority for you. I'm sure they probably fit perfect on some feet, but they didn't work out on mine.

This is the first ball of this kind I have ever used. Like is very much. I can feel my lower back, hip, and thigh muscles being used which is healthy. I have found that in the beginning if I sit on it for hours at a time the muscles being used get very 'tired', therefore until muscles are accustomed to this kind of product, start out slowly and increase time using ball-chair gradually (unless you are already extremely very physically fit).

"Slippery When Wet" 2010-08-20

I chose this because the reviews said it was thicker than standard mats, which is what I need due to tender bones/joints. It met my expectations in this regard - not too hard, not too squishy. It seems to need a "recovery" time after being compressed (or stood on), so make sure you don't store it under heavy objects.

There was a bit of a synthetic smell when I opened the packaging (which I hate) but after I aired it out for a while, the smell was completely gone. Even during Bikram class, the heat did not bring out any foul odours while I was face down on the mat.

The only problem I had was that my feet would slip during Bikram class, and I wasn't even sweating that much. I will try putting a towel on top.

I tried this mat because of the price, and I was very disappointed. First, when you're in a pose, your mat sinks so it takes the shape of your hands or feet or whatever is on the mat. Then, when you pull your hand/foot/etc.. out of the mat for your next pose, there is now an imprint of your hand/foot/etc... It takes a few seconds to rebound to its original shape, but it is still annoying. Second, when the mat sinks, it becomes very thin, like when I'm kneeling on the ground, it feels like there is no padding at all and I'm kneeling on the floor. The only good thing about this was that it was cheap. If you are looking for a good high-quality mat, try the Jade Yoga mats. Those are fabulous and worth the expense.

You need a yoga towel with the rubber backing or beads. And you have to wet down the towel to help with gripping. This towel does not have the backing.

i have only had this for about 2 weeks, so i cannot comment on its longevity.
I use this towel over my mat for bikram yoga. it mostly stays in place, needing some adjustments after poses where you twist the feet around on the mat. it very is absorbent.

I bought this towel a few days ago and started using it this week. I don't see a huge difference between this and an ordinary towel except that it is longer and lighter. The towel covered the whole mat and is easy to carry around compared to the normal bath towel. It is very lightweight. It does tend to move during my bikram yoga practice so I have to constantly fix it and it also does not prevent slipping. Another con of the towel is it has to be line dried and cannot go into the dryer. I'm afraid this can be a problem during the winter since I practice rather regularly. I am not sure how fast the towel will dry during the winter without using the dryer. I am currently alternating this towel with my normal bath towel. Compared to the more expensive towels, this is an OK towel - not the best or the greatest, but serves its purpose (especially when you have to take public transit to get to the studio). I will wait and see how this towel holds out before deciding if I want to buy the more expensive ones.

I bought this towel several weeks ago to try and protect my mat from the huge amount I typically sweat during practice. I gambled on this over 'grippy' towels (Yogitoes Skidless Premium Mat-Size Yoga Towel), I wanted to test for myself how well a normal towel would grip. I must say that I have had no problems with the towel slipping off my mat (a Jade Harmony Professional 3/16-Inch Yoga Mat), wet or dry it doesn't budge on the mat unless peeled off. However, this will probably depend on exactly what mat you use.

Although I haven't had issues with the towel slipping on my mat, I have had problems with my hands and feet slipping on the towel. At best the towel is substantially less sticky than a dry mat alone, and after several practices without washing, the towel can become nearly unusable. This can be remedied by washing the towel, or wetting it before the practice, which increases traction slightly.

If you own a Jade Yoga mat or a mat of similar grippy-ness, don't bother with silicon grip towels like Yogitoes, instead search for a towel that has better skin-towel traction. If anyone knows of such a towel I would greatly appreciate a comment.
